Hey guys, it’s Alison here 👋
I’ve been working on something new and wanted to get your thoughts.
The other day I started building a local delivery app called Mangawhai eats. The idea is simple: you order food from any restaurant in Mangawhai, request delivery, and then a local driver picks up and brings it to you.
Drivers could be anyone in the community — as long as they sign up and have a valid licence. When an order comes in, drivers get a notification and can accept the job, pick up the food, and deliver it.
Delivery would be paid by the customer, making it flexible for both restaurants and drivers.
At the end of the day, big platforms like Uber Eats will probably make their way here eventually. But I’d much rather see our community supporting a local idea — keeping money in Mangawhai, helping local restaurants grow, and creating opportunities for locals — rather than it all going to a big international company.
I’m trying to see if this is something people here would actually use and support. Do you reckon Mangawhai is ready for its own delivery service?
