A higher end shopping mall in Harbin, China. This is where Shuli and Rick purchased wedding clothes in 2011. The mall has been remodeled so many times it is almost unrecognizable.

Aaaand.... We're open! Back from Harbin China, to kick things off, Chef Shuli is running a promotion on Baozi pork buns, handmade from scratch as usual. $25 for 6 buns. Tax is already included in the price, as usual. Commented below are more pictures from Shuli's Harbin China trip. It was a drizzly winter. Looking forward to serving Anacortes through sunnier days.

The next batch of Harbin pictures. The snow came back. This is a typical residential neighborhood not far from where our son Zhao Long lives. Standard cookie cutter model, efficient design: a ring of condos with a park for exercise in the middle. On the first floor are little shops, mini marts and mom and pop restaurants. Cheap but amazingly delicious food that I miss very much. Homes are then stacked on top. There is only one heater for the entire building and no gauge for changing the temperature. The heat comes up through the floor and the temperature is toasty, sometimes too toasty. If it gets too warm in your house, the only thing you can do is crack a window open and let a small amount of that negative 10° outside air in.

Harbin Dumplings will be CLOSED from Jan 26 through March 9th (roughly one month’s time). Tomorrow (Sunday) will be the last day to enjoy Chef Shuli's cuisine for awhile. Shuli will be with her Chinese family for the Chinese new year. This celebration will be the Year of the Horse. According to Chinese lore, if you were born on1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 or 2014 your sign is Horse and this will be a year of good luck. Shuli will bring back more pictures and celebratory Chinese candy to share.

We are sorry all. Harbin Dumplings will be closed today and possibly tomorrow due to the incoming "atmospheric river" storm. We expect to resume the normal schedule after the storm passes.

Winter Hours: Harbin Dumplings is reverting to Winter hours through the cold dark months. Effective this week, Harbin Dumplings will be open from Friday through Tuesday (closed Wed and Thu), from 12PM to 4PM. Exception: We will usually be happy to take a reservation if you want to visit us a little earlier or later (before 12 or after 4pm). If that is you, give us a text or a call with as much prior notice as you can. 360-333-0788.

Holidays: Unless otherwise posted, we intend to stay open through the winter holidays this year. Pot stickers and meat pies make an excellent side dish to bring to Mom's house on thanksgiving.

As of Sun Nov 16, Harbin Dumplings is back up and running, all systems functional with a full menu! Doordash will be reactivated. We had a soft opening today to give us time to test everything out. Looking forward to serving Anacortes with fresh hand cut hand spun noodles through the coming cold months.

Shuli had a grand time in China and got caught up with her son, her siblings and other extended family. Harbin has already been snowed on a bit. Shuli brought home a few small treasures including a couple top shelf bottles of Bai Jiu, which is 50 proof rice liquor that is a very acquired taste (most westerners don't like it). Such will be saved for very special occasions. We have some more China pictures to share and they will be posted here soon.

And... She is back in the air! Shuli had a nice month-long visit with her family in China and will be home in the USA tomorrow morning. Indeed it's a very long flight. Shu Li will need some days to recover from her journey, especially the jet lag; then Harbin Dumplings will reopen serving perfectly pan seared potstickers once again. Stay tuned.
