This is a bittersweet staff spotlight: everyone meet Joaquin. He’s been with us the past three years slinging some badass cocktails, making us laugh and forcing everyone to listen to his music choices. With it being graduation this week, he’s decided to move onto bigger and better things in his field. The thing about restaurants is you never know what your server, bartender or barback do outside of work…fun fact, he has his nuclear engineering degree. The guy making your favorite Last Word cocktails is now going to be working in New Mexico at the Los Alamos National Labratory as a nuclear engineer🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
Here are some other fun tidbits about him:
Favorite drink—shooting from the hip (Joaquin’s creation)
Favorite food—fried chicken bao buns that are currently on the menu
Graduated from UofM last year 2025
He likes walking his dogs…bartending is fire and listening to music.
What are you going to miss the most—Giancarlo and the Latino crew and the rest of the mentors I’ve gotten behind the bar…I’m really gonna miss everyone
Stop in and see Joaquin before he leaves, wish him well and congratulate him on a job well done. As happy as we are for you, we’re bummed we won’t see your face anymore.
Stay tuned though because we are planning a special pop up at Alley Bar, featuring Joaquin, in the coming month(s).
