Autumn has found its way to Post Ranch. A colorful collection of pumpkins and gourds, including one carved especially for us, greets guests just outside Reception. A little seasonal spirit from Big Sur.

Thank you to Men’s Journal and Editor-in-Chief Brittany Smith for spending time with us and sharing her Post Ranch experience.

We’re honored to be featured in Men’s Journal, which recognized Post Ranch Inn back in March as one of its 2026 Travel Award winners, naming us Best Luxury Hotel of 2026.

From our dramatic Big Sur setting and distinctive architecture to our commitment to caring for the land and community, Brittany's article beautifully captures so much of what makes Post Ranch special.

We’re thrilled to share that Post Ranch Inn has once again been awarded Three MICHELIN Keys, marking our third consecutive year receiving MICHELIN’s highest distinction for hotels.

To be recognized for a third year is especially meaningful. Post Ranch has always been defined by its connection to Big Sur, a place that shapes our architecture, our approach to hospitality and the experiences we create for our guests.

This honor is a reflection of our entire team and the care, dedication and genuine sense of hospitality they bring to Post Ranch every day. We’re deeply grateful to them, and to our guests who continue to choose Post Ranch as a place to experience the extraordinary beauty and spirit of Big Sur.

We're also celebrating , our sister property in Sausalito at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, which received Two MICHELIN Keys for the third year running!

More big news out of Big Sur. Highway 1 is now open in both directions! Guests traveling from both Northern and Southern California can once again drive directly to Big Sur along the legendary coastal route.

We want to take a moment to share our sincere gratitude to the incredible firefighters and fire responders who made this happen and continue to work around the clock to protect the beauty and magic of Big Sur. We're endlessly grateful.

Big Sur is open, and we'd love to welcome you.

We’ve got some very good news. We’re delighted to share that Post Ranch Inn has reopened and is welcoming guests once again.

The entire Post Ranch experience is ready to be enjoyed, including Sierra Mar, the pools, hiking trails, yoga, falconry, tours of the Chefs' Garden, the newly renovated Spa, and more. The conditions here on property have been excellent. The photos above were taken over the past week.

All of us here at Post Ranch look forward to welcoming everyone back.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with your kind thoughts and well wishes regarding the Timber Fire in Big Sur.

Fortunately, there is currently no imminent threat to Post Ranch Inn. However, due to restricted access on Highway 1 and a standing evacuation order resulting from the fire, Post Ranch has temporarily suspended hotel and restaurant operations. Our team continues to closely monitor conditions as firefighters and local law enforcement work to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the Big Sur community.

We are deeply grateful to the men and women of Big Sur Fire, CAL FIRE, law enforcement, and all responding agencies for their tireless efforts to protect the Big Sur community. During times like these, it is inspiring to see our neighbors and local businesses come together and support one another in any way they can. We look forward to welcoming guests back as soon as it is confirmed safe to do so.

Some very exciting news from the kitchen at Sierra Mar. MICHELIN has named Sierra Mar a Green Star restaurant, recognizing kitchens whose vision and approach are shaping the future of gastronomy. Sierra Mar joins just two other California restaurants honored this year, spotlighting the chefs and kitchens shaping the future of responsible dining. MICHELIN noted that the Green Star highlights restaurants that have stood out for their forward-looking approach, helping to build a community of kitchens committed to advancing the culinary industry collectively.

Culinary Director Reylon Agustin and Executive Chef Hoon Il Kang have built a kitchen around the rhythm of this coastline, utilizing fresh ingredients from our own Chef's Garden, while developing relationships with local purveyors, to present a menu each day that changes with what the land and water provide. It's a fitting tribute to a kitchen that has always let Big Sur lead the way.

As one of Post Ranch’s Extraordinary Experiences, join local jade diver and artist Justin Barrett for a Jade Carving Class. Big Sur jade is a rare nephrite found only along this stretch of coastline. Select your own stone and shape it using lapidary tools into a piece of jewelry or a personal keepsake.

Along the way, discover the story behind this remarkable material and settle into the meditative rhythm of the carving process. You’ll leave with something crafted by your own hands, and a deeper connection to Big Sur.

No prior experience necessary.
