Rwanda! 🇷🇼 A special microlot from Gishamwana Island and the COOPAC cooperative.

We adore coffees from Rwanda for their often juicy, ripe citric notes that are delectably balanced with sugary hints of cola and dark sugars. This coffee hit the nail on the head on the cupping table so we knew we had to have it!

This island coffee farm is owned by Emmanuel Rwakagara, the founder and president of COOPAC. The coffee is grown organically amongst forestry that provides a level of shade much greater than is typical for African coffee. This coffee is harvested at peak ripeness, depulped, dry fermented, wet fermented, washed, soaked, then dried on raised beds.

COOPAC is a Fair Trade–certified cooperative located near Lake Kivu on the steep slopes of volcanic mountains. COOPAC began with 110 farmers in April 2001 and currently has 8,000 members contributing coffee.

It’s us! Back with a long overdue refresh of our bag lineup! These designs blend inspiration from the natural world and a little bit of Bauhaus with an aim for heightened communication and functionality.

Sup y’all!? We will be closing at 2pm Monday and Tuesday this week + closed all day Wednesday for a little refresh of the cafe.

Burundi! 🇧🇮

A fresh Honey process coffee from the Yandaro Washing station in the province of Kayanza.

Honeys in Burundi are less common, but washing stations have more recently experimented with this process and it has yielded great results.

This coffee has a cup that is nicely balanced between citrusy notes of bergamot and a bit heavier body that hints at molasses and malt. 🍊

Happy Earth Day folks! 🌍

Love her, care for her, we only have one. From the high mountain peaks, springs trickling to creeks, to the river valleys full and wide, we are so grateful for the wonders of Mother Nature.
