Things are well underway at D.R.E.A.M.S. Shade Tree cafe. So many changes coming your way. Though it is not set yet, still a good bit to get done, we can't wait for opening day!

Good afternoon!

Just wanting to jump on here and tell everyone we can not wait to get into gear and get cooking for you.

With this lovely weather some of the work is taking a bit longer then anticipated to get done but rest assured we are moving twoards the goal of being at our best as soon as we can.

While we wait why don't we see where everyone is from.

Let us know where you reside and give us an idea of something new you would like to see served at The D.R.E.A.M.S Shade Tree Cafe.. Your idea just might give us ideas about our future menu..

DREAMS Foundation of Acadiana is proud to announce our acquisition of the legendary Shade Tree Cafe’ in Broussard! We are so excited that Chef Lonnie Pope and Eric Letulier will allow us to continue their tradition using their special recipes that we’ve all come to love. DREAMS Foundation is currently renovating the space and we will also be featuring our delicious meat pies, prepared and served right here at home, along with other special menu items. Hope to see you in early-2026!

As a non-profit, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs by providing meaningful employment, individualized living solutions and purpose-driven opportunities. Our vision for DREAMS in the DREAMS Shade Cafe' also includes a dual-purpose venue that hosts micro-weddings and other special events, while creating sustainable job training and employment through DREAMS Manufacturing and hospitality services.

Good morning!

I want to take a moment to let everyone know, who may have missed the previous post, that Shade Tree Cafe has officially closed it's doors after 15 wonderful years! Chef Lonnie and Eric are moving on to new adventures, but are staying local.

The home, property, & resturant itself was purchased by an amazing organization called The D.R.E.A.M.S. Foundation. This foundation helps support and employ some of the special needs individuals in our community. They do great work and enrich the lives of those they support.

In the coming months a new resturant will reopen. There will be changes but we hope you all get the chance to come out and give it a try. We will make a post soon to keep everyone updated and we hope to see tons of your smiling faces for our opening!

Thank you for all your support in the past and hopefully in the future!

That is 15 years in the books! Shade tree Cafe is offically closed as of 2 pm today!

We want to send a Huge, Heartfelt Thank you to each and every one of our loyal customers and our new arrivals who just learned of us and chose to give us a try! We sincerly appreciate all the continuous support all these years. You guys made our last week monumentous! It was AMAZING!

We will update the page when Chef Lonnie and Eric has settled in thier new hideaway. As well as when the new owners take over the location incase anyone wishes to show your support to them as well and give them a try!

Good Morning to all of our favorite people!

We want to say how much we truely appreciate all of you and your support throughout the years and especially this week! Orders may have taken a bit longer then expected to be recieved due to the high volume of orders we are taking in. So much so we have, unfortunately, had to stop taking call in orders during lunch 0or closing at night for private parties. Please bare with us today as it will be hectic and we will do our very best to accomidate as many as we can.

Please check our page at 3 pm I will post if we will have enough supplies to open for evening shift.

Some of our items are very limited or SOLD OUT. We do have many others to choose from. If you are in a hurry please go for Chef Lonnie's plate lunch. You won't be disappointed.

Crab Burger- Fresh crab meat with sautéed onions, bell peppers folded with seasoned bread crumbs formed into a burger and grilled on toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, tartar & cocktail with fries $16.95

The Fire Bird Sandwich- Spicy Fried Chicken breast topped with fiery pepper jack cheese and apple wood bacon, on toasted bun. Then dressed with chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, fries $12.95

Our hours are:

11 am to 2 pm Tuesday- Friday
&
5 pm to 9 pm Tuesday-Friday (please call at 5 pm or check facebook for closings)!

No grill orders after 1:30 pm, plate lunches only if left available!! Sometimes we may close the grill early if we are really slow or if preperations need to be made for night shift or Chef's needs.

These times are subject to change due to catering, inclimate weather, or personal reasons that may arrise. Try to call ahead or check here on fb for closing posts.

We start taking call in orders at 8 am, serving at 11 am, the grill shuts down at 1:30 pm (no grill orders after 1:30pm), and plate lunches can be purchased til 2 pm when not sold out!

Calling early helps get the pick up time you need. Please call in larger orders (5 or more items) if possible, before 10 am as they take longer to prepare. Please place company orders as early as possible or even days ahead. You can also email larger orders in to [email protected] the night before (NOT THE DAY OF), it is needed, add your contact number so we can call the day of and be sure we have everything needed.

Wait times when ordering at the door depend on orders placed ahead of yours, and wait times could be upwards or 30-45 mins sometimes longer. Please be sure to check out our prepared that morning and kept hot plate lunches if you are in a rush!
