Surprise! We’re hiring. We are looking for an additional retail shop associate to join our team. All employees wear all hats so that means unpacking boxes, shipping out orders, handling sales in the shop, doing shop shelf merchandising, tidying up the kitchen, etc. - this is a temporary position that may lead to a longer term position down the road. The pay is $13-15/hour based on experience. Priority always goes to someone who has been in the shop before and who understands our business and our values. We also always look for someone who is kind, cares about others and can work well independently as well as with customers, and switch between the two. Bonus points if you are great at project management and visual merchandising, are able to start ASAP and looking for a long term role you can grow into. You can apply at the link in our bio as well as on our website.

Earlier today, I had a casual meet up with some of my commercial artist/illustrator friends and I had a post-meeting observation via DM’s with one of them that basically highlighted that we each get better at what we practice and we practice different things and that even though all of us in that group are successful at what we do and kind of have similar origins of our products (they are all designed by us and use our art and are sold commercially) we each have had different paths and avenues to our own successes and while you might think that, if we each started with the same thing, that would lead us to the same place, I think instead our skills and our strengths and our weaknesses and our preferences alongside what our audiences have responded to have led us to different places, and that the more we pour into that the more successful each of us will be and has been. Long story short, stay in your lane if you can. I am notoriously terrible at staying in a lane, I tend to swerve into a handful of lanes lol, but at the end of the day, they’re all close to one another… and lean into what is working. Definitely try new channels and ways of doing things and learning, and see what sticks, but also lean into what supports your own personal values and interest and what others are responding to and that’s where you’ll find your own personal success. It’s easy to look around at everybody else and see what they’re doing and think that’s what you should be doing, but it’s also great to do it your own way and that will probably be the thing that leads you to the right place in the long run.

I found out in mid-April that an office space that I rent out to an entrepreneur was unexpectedly not getting renewed at the last minute. Typically I know what office spaces will be available to transition them and find new tenants a few months prior to their yearly April 1st renewal date. My lease is year to year so that’s how I structure my leases with coworkers too and I try to give a 30 day reminder ahead of time in early March. Needless to say, it began a game of private offices musical chairs and a lot of hustling to rent out the open offices to new coworkers as others moved into other open offices in the building. One of my tenants, a therapist, moved across the hall which meant this space (the only one suitable in the building for a dedicated classroom space) would be available starting May 15th. I took a chance and decided to make this space both the classroom and new communal coworking space for women who didn’t need a private dedicated office but still wanted a space here. I got the keys to this office space on May 15th and worked quickly to get it painted, designed and assembled and worked tirelessly over the past 2ish weeks to tie up all the loose ends and manage a million tiny details and get it all done. Nothing like a crazy deadline to get that ADHD dopamine in the high gear needed to actually make it happen. During that same time period I met with a dozen+ different women, most of who are all now coworking members of this space that will join the six others that have private offices here, all in rooms tucked away behind the gift shop. Here are some photos I took of the finished, final results. If you scroll to the end you’ll see the before photo from two weeks ago. If you’re attending a future class you’ll get to see it in person. It’s been so fun running into new faces and learning more about each person here just in the two days this upstairs space has been activated and “open”. I also love to see existing coworkers making connections with new ones too. The gift shop will maintain its same hours of Wednesday-Sunday 11am-5pm, this is just another behind-the-scenes facet of the space that customers don’t get to see very often, if at all. 💗

Just popped into the communal coworking space upstairs and ran into who is part of this cohort. She is a textile and surface pattern designer who recently moved here from New Jersey with her teenage daughter. Did you know that she designed the pattern on the shirt that she is wearing? So fun! Really looking forward to learning more about her and all the other amazing women that are part of this group and space. 🥰

I’m taking a pause from teaching most classes over the summer for a break but do still have a couple scheduled including a candle pouring and tarot card reading class with .co next Monday June 8th from 6-8pm, Mahjong Open Play dates on the 2nd Friday of each month at 10am which this month is on Friday June 12. For the open play events you just show up and bring your 2026 card, we provide the tiles and racks. We also have a Learn American Mahjong & Sip a Mocktail class on Monday June 15th at 10am. There are also open mahjong play dates and mahjong lessons listed in July (with evening dates too for the classes) and upcoming months on our website. All classes are held in our new upstairs classroom space. If you are unable to access a second floor space that is up a flight of stairs we can teach a private class in our Downstairs shop space if you can pull together a group of 4 or more people but you must contact us separately to arrange that. Light snacks, herbal tea and seltzers and provide fed but you are also welcome to BYOB and food. Space is limited and classes often sell out, you can sign up for all of these classes on our website. Hope to see you there!

When you have 15 days to transform an empty white office into a cozy communal coworking space and dedicated classroom…and find a dozen women entrepreneurs to fill it. I never doubted that it would happen but whew that was a whirlwind! Can’t wait to see this space activated this week and into this year. ✨

I am sitting in the completed upstairs communal coworking space and dedicated classroom that I’ve been working hard on creating over the past 15 days or so. I got access to the previously rented private office that I decided to utilize in a different way on May 15th. During that time I had all the walls, ceiling and trim painted, found, assembled and set up furniture, and designed a cozy and functional space that will not only be our new dedicated classroom but also a communal coworking space for a select group of a dozen women at various stages of their careers and lives who are looking for a dedicated space to find and create community alongside others. I met with each of these women over that same time period and they get access to the space for the first time tomorrow. I’m excited to see what emerges. I’ve been running a coworking space since 2013 in different capacities, but not everybody can afford a private office. I wanted to have a space option that was a little bit more laid-back and cozy and communal for women seeking out something a little different than a typical coffee shop or coworking space that often times feels too corporate and formal. This new cohort is really centered on creating organic community through repeated small encounters, but also in providing a nurturing space too away from the home, alongside other women entrepreneurs, including our already rented our private offices and women entrepreneurs in those spaces too. Each of the women in this cohort will be utilizing this space through April of next year as they need and I’m excited to see what emerges. Because the space will also function as our dedicated classroom space it also means I won’t have to clear off all of the shop tables every time that I’m hosting classes and I won’t have to have them just on Mondays and Tuesdays so that provides a lot more flexibility. Obviously the only downside is that it is now upstairs. I’m happy to create and offer a private class downstairs if you’re unable to access the upstairs space for whatever reason if you can pull together a group before more people. I’m excited to see how things grow and blossom from this. 💗
