Here at Inspiration Kitchens, we train low-income and Chicagoans experiencing homelessness for careers in the foodservice industry in our kitchen. Our graduates go on to work at some of the city’s hottest restaurants and catering companies, giving them the opportunity to exit poverty for good. 🎓 Huge congratulations to the 7 graduates of our October Foodservice Training and Employment Program cohort! 🎉

While it's bittersweet to see them close this chapter, we couldn't be more proud of what they've achieved. Our grads are now stepping into exciting futures: some are heading to work with our amazing hospitality partners, some are mapping out their next chapter, and others are launching their culinary careers right here at Inspiration Kitchens!

A very special thank you to our guest speaker, Chef Urban, Director of Culinary Arts at Center on Halsted, who was also the executive chef at Inspiration Kitchens 10 years ago. Talk about a full-circle moment! Chef Urban offered invaluable words of wisdom and shared inspiring stories to encourage our students as they step into their next chapter. We are so grateful they could join us to celebrate this milestone.✨

Inspiration Kitchens just got a serious upgrade—and Shawntanelle and Dione are already putting it to work! 🍪✨ A huge thank you to Middleby/Globe for their generous donation of a mixer. 🍪🙌

When Shawntanelle and Dione stepped into our Food Service and Training Employment (FSTE) kitchen with Chef Scott, they weren't just learning a recipe—they were stepping into a commercial environment. Trying to master industrial-grade equipment can be intimidating when you're learning the ropes of large-scale baking from scratch.

That's where this game-changing donation comes in. Chef Scott shares: "The Kodiak 20 qt. floor mixer donation provides a great opportunity for our students to gain valuable experience working with state-of-the-art equipment, along with learning about commercial batch cooking and baking."

With pro tools like this in hand, Shawntanelle is one step closer to her dream of becoming a baker!
