One used to tune into a radio station (ask Claude about those, ya ankle biters) to hear a particular style of music. Similarly, wine importers broadcast styles of wine. Knowing where to set your dial with importers can close the space between you and wine you love, and Ivan’s got on the airwaves (grapewaves?) for this week’s Saturday Sipping. Come by from 2-4pm and taste across France with Varda via Ivan. As always, these weekly tastings are free for wine club members, $10 for the rest of you, and lots of fun for everyone.

Meet SIP IT!, a game that has nothing but winners. Think of it like ’s summer reading program, but with more wine and fewer words. You play by joining our Saturday Sipping tastings, a joyful weekly joint hosted by our wine director, Ivan. If you make it to five of them between now and the end of August, you get two of our custom wine glasses for your very own. Saturday Sipping happens every Saturday from 2-4pm. Let the games begin!

We’re dancing through France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region during Saturday Sips this week. Ivan is sharing three drinkable examples of the diverse ways a red grape can express itself in the south of France. Come for a waltz from candied fruit punch to brambly, dusty, and soulful with the wines of Les Cigales dans la Fourmiliere, Matin Calme, and Julien Peyras. Our Saturday Sips tastings are always on Saturdays (duh) from 2-4pm, and free (awesome!) for club members and $10 (not too shabby) for everyone else.

Wines of the Jura sing an offbeat but precise tune, one that belongs unmistakably and deliciously to the region, and we’re tickled to be sharing an extra-special Jura producer this Saturday. Domaine Villet focuses on long elevage and indigenous Jura grapes, and they’re brand-new to Chicago but 126 in wine years (equivalent to people years, as far as we know). Ask Ivan to croon a Jura tune on Saturday—or perhaps just pour you a glass. Saturday Sipping runs from 2-4pm, and it’s free for wine club members and $10 for the rest of ya.

You thought you might like a brief snooze in a verdant garden, but it turns out you just need a Gin Tonica. Get acquainted with a patio-loving version of the classic G&T made with an extra-nifty Mexican gin from a woman-owned distillery. It incorporates local botanicals used in traditional curandera healing rituals and focuses mainly on sage, jasmine and palo santo. Like we said: it’s basically a restorative nap in a garden.

You know how nice it feels to tell someone “it’s great to see you!” and REALLY mean it? That’s how the return of these bottles from .oneilllatta and hits for us. This Saturday’s tasting is a California carousal with gems of the passionfruit cider, Viognier, Chardonnay, and Carignan varieties. Come through and taste between 2pm and 4pm.
