In the spirit of the "430 Bayside" house concert series we are thrilled to have Cynthia and Gordon at Black Moon Public House.

Cynthia MacLeod is one of Prince Edward Island’s finest ambassadors of traditional music, with a distinct style of fiddling that embraces both her local roots and her ancestral connection to the Scottish highlands.

Since the beginning of her career as a young teenager, Cynthia has spent more than two decades on stages on PEI, across Canada, and around the world.

Based in Prince Edward Island on Canada's east coast, Gordon Belsher has been entertaining audiences in Canada and around the world for more than 50 years performing at concerts, ceilidhs, conventions, and pubs. Gordon has toured extensively across Canada, in the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Japan and Australia.

He is also a great bass player. His band opened for The Who on their first North American tour, and Gordon has not abandoned his rock roots. His trad music kicks butt, and when you add Cynthia to the mix, things heat up.

The Brain Vacation Folk Festival rolls Into Ellsworth on Saturday, November 2nd.
Featuring a trio of southern Maine’s most notorious anti-folk and grunge folk performers, the Brain Vacation Folk Festival promises to be an astonishing show with Plague Dad, Fine Pioneer, and Cryin’ Caleb.
“There’s a renaissance going on in the Maine folk scene right now,” says Steve Peer who is the impresario at Black Moon, “and these three artists are at the forefront of that, pushing the boundaries of what it is to be a folk musician".
Cryin’ Caleb hails from Auburn. He plays an electric guitar, and his sound fuses a country twang with a decidedly folk ethos, grounded in his own imitable, raucous style. His most recent single, 'To Live and Love In the Shadow of Fear', is receiving airplay on WCLZ, WMPG and winning over listeners throughout New England and beyond.
Fine Pioneer, from Portland, is Evan Ayton. Fine Pioneer lost faith and found solace in music. He is a storyteller who uses symbolism and imagery in lyrically dense folk tunes. His most recent single, 'Both Sides of Sleepy', is a love song that spans generations and features vocals from Gina Brown, the lead singer of Portland’s infamous garage-punk band, Euphemia.
Plague Dad is the most recent project from Portland’s Frank Gallagher. A veteran of the indie rock scene, Gallagher grew up in Bangor and got his start back in the day in San Francisco, after he dropped out of the Berklee College of Music.
His first band, Scouts Honor, gigged all over SF, the Bay Area and beyond, sharing stages from LA to Seattle with a long list of acts, including Nirvana, Love Battery, Mr. Bungle, the GooGoo Dolls, and Primus.
Plague Dad is an acoustic act, steeped in the old-timey sounds of Jimmie Rodgers, the Carter Family, and the Stanley Brothers, but infused through and through with the punk-rock ethos that led Gallagher to music in the first place. His new release, 'Cops On Acid', is currently receiving airplay on college, community and Internet radio World-wide.
Gonna' be a fun night of music, drinkin' and hanging out!

Thursday warm-up! 'Happy Hour' continues to rage and it is a good time to make plans for the rest of the week at Black Moon Public House tonight with friends.
Tonight is 'Ladies Night' with $10 Cosmo's and Martini's. For your entertainment we also have Zach Macko. He is on tour from California and currently lost in Down East Maine. Lucky us!
Zach has deep family roots in Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island, dating back to the 1940s when his family began spending summers on Green Lake.
After a decade working in New York City writing songs for various artists, Zach is now doing his own thing...crafting great songs and living on the road for awhile.
For tonight's performance he has created a unique set of songs to complement the crisp fall weather, pairing perfectly with Black Moon Ale and whiskey.
In support of the local scene...and the pets of Ellsworth and beyond, Zach is donating all tips and proceeds from the show to the SPCA of Hancock County. WOW! How cool is that?
Show starts at 6pm! Let's do it for the LADIES, dogs and kittens!
