Well we’ve got some bittersweet news.

If you’ve been to Brewpoint at any point... well since we opened nearly 12 years, chances are you’ve met Ben.

Over the years, Ben has worn just about every Brewpoint hat imaginable, from barista, to roaster, to ultimately serving as our Head Operations Manager. His dedication, leadership, and care have helped shape Brewpoint into what it is today, and his impact can be felt in every corner (and shot of espresso) of our company.

As he begins a new chapter and pursues a new profession, we’re saying goodbye with the fullest of hearts. While we’re incredibly sad to see him go, we’re even more excited to see where this next adventure takes him. We couldn’t be happier for him.

Ben, thank you for everything you’ve given to Brewpoint, our team, and our community. You’ll always be a part of our story. And Ben, if you’re reading this (we know how much you dislike public attention and sappy posts)... thank you.

Employee Feature: Morticia 🕊️

Everyone, meet Morticia. Morticia is a Mourning Dove who’s taken quite a liking to the planter outside our Founder’s Cafe. So much so that she decided to lay her eggs there and make it her home.

After some dedicated bird research from our team (thank you, Sasha + Jessy), we learned that Mourning Dove eggs typically hatch after 14 to 15 days, and the babies spend about two more weeks in the nest before taking off. Looks like Morticia will be spending a little more of the summer with us.

If you’re stopping by Founder’s, please be kind to Morticia and her growing family, and help us give them a little space. (We already feel guilty every time she leaves the nest while we water the plants for 60 seconds 💔.)

The good news? Mourning Doves are incredibly gentle birds and don’t swoop at people while nesting. (Red-winged Blackbirds could never.)

Yesterday, we had the chance to cozy up with the amazing The Sister Project 🎙️ Cozy Podcast + Wheezy Laughs for an evening all about slowing down, reading more, and filled with full-belly laughs.

To everyone who joined us, thank you for spending your evening with us and raising a cocktail to good books and even better company. It was such a cozy night, and we loved seeing so many readers (and soon to be readers) gathered together. We truly left the event with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

So... what do we say about a round two? 👀👀

We thought we’d do a bit more Makers & Shakers reminiscing because we’re still thinking about how special this year’s event was.

A huge thank you again to everyone who made this happen, our hosts Melissa for DuPage + Pablo Wealth Talks, our speakers, our sponsors Pan American Bank & Trust, Savory Crust Gourmet Empanadas for the best empanadas to ever grace our pallets, Adrian Orozco | HeadshotHaus for the headshots, Seven Twenty Five Events, LLC for the beautiful arrangements, and to the entire Brewpoint team.

Another huge shoutout to our amazing videographer Kevin Cab. Until next time.

Your wish is our command.

Y’all love the Local Coffee Shops Create Communities tee as much as we do, so we’ve restocked both the cropped and normal length versions while supplies last. Last time these went quick so snag them while you can…

In the coming days, we’re officially saying goodbye to two longtime Signature Menu classics: the Rose Matcha and the Adagio.

They’ve had a great run, but overtime they’ve been spending a little too much time on the sidelines and we felt like now is the right time to make room for something new…

The good news? Their goodbye means we’re making room for one of our seasonal favorites to earn a permanent spot on our Signature Menu. 🍓🍓🍓

06/19/2026

Yesterday, the Obama Presidential Center celebrated its grand opening on Chicago’s South Side, and today, on the Juneteenth holiday, it officially opens to the public.

As a business built around community, we love seeing spaces created to bring people together, share stories, and inspire future generations. This new campus does exactly that while honoring the legacy of Barack Obama, a son of Chicago whose journey was shaped by this city.

Our Founder & CEO, Melissa Villanueva (and candidate for the DuPage County Board Melissa for DuPage!), recently got an early look inside. The tour included exhibits exploring the Obamas’ story, a full-scale Oval Office visitors can step into, the John Lewis Plaza, and the words of President Obama’s Selma speech etched into the building.

The campus is over 19 acres, with most of it free and open to the public. Museum admission is available by timed ticket ($30 for adults, $23 for children, and free on Tuesdays for Illinois residents). Reservations can be made through Obama.org.

What does it really take to build a multi-million dollar business?

Is it funding? Connections? Experience? The right idea at the right time?

In just one week, on June 25, we’re bringing together business owners who have accomplished what fewer than 2% of entrepreneurs ever achieve and they’re sharing the lessons, challenges, and decisions that helped them get there.

We’re excited to officially welcome our speakers:
- Maxine Weiss Kunz & Amanda M. Oliver, Co-Founders of Weiss Kunz & Oliver, LLC
- Geri Hernandez, Owner & Founder of Savory Crust Gourmet Empanadas
- Yadira Enriquez, Chief Financial Officer + VP of Business Development of Enriquez Produce

With just one week to go, tickets are nearly gone. Grab yours before we sell out via the link in our bio.
