Princess Restaurant

Princess Restaurant A PAPPAS TRADITION 4 GENERATIONS Princess Restaurant has been serving fine meals, at reasonable prices, for over 81 years. George Pappas, Sr. George W.
(528)

first started the business in 1939. In the beginning, the business existed, primarily, as a confectionary with homemade candies and a “businessman’s luncheon,” consisting of homemade soups, sandwiches, and fountain favorites. In the mid1940s, George Pappas, Jr., joined his father in the restaurant business. It was during this time that additional changes started taking place; the confectionary, ca

ndy, cases were replaced with booths and tables and what started as soups and sandwiches quickly grew to full course meals. In the early 1950s, President and Mrs. Harry Truman enjoyed dining here and left a legacy that will always be known as the “Truman booth.”

George, Jr. and his wife Dorothy, became owners in 1963 and continued to operate the business until 1981. They, too, made structural changes in the restaurant and expanded the menu offerings. It was at this time, that confections became limited to the Easter Season. Pappas and his wife Sheila acquired ownership in 1981. Together, they added a dining room to further accommodate the growing business. After countless years of ownership, George and Sheila were proud to welcome the help of their youngest, daughter, Lauren in 2014. Lauren is excited to carry on the Pappas Family traditions for another generation. For four generations, the Princess Restaurant has had the pleasure of being one of Allegany County’s most beloved restaurants.

A little throwback for your Thursday. Although these aren’t the originals, they’re still part of our history and a true “meal ticket” from the 80s (the originals were yellow). Let us know if you remember these!

🌸🍓 Join us in celebrating Mother’s Day at the Princess! 🌸🍓

This Sunday, we’re serving up something extra special for the Moms in your life: our Cinnamon Vanilla French Toast topped with fresh strawberries and a housemade vanilla glaze. It’s the kind of plate that makes a morning feel like a celebration. ✨

This Sunday will be our LAST Sunday open for the season. But don’t worry, we’ll still be here Monday through Saturday, 6am–4pm as always!

Come bring Mom in this Sunday and let us take care of the cooking. We’d love to see you. ❤️

6,605 eggs later… and every single one made the same way: cut, weighed, rolled, dipped, and packaged by hand.

This isn’t just what we do, it’s a true labor of love rooted in tradition.

We couldn’t continue to do this without the incredible support of our loyal customers. Because of you, we’re able to carry on exactly how the Princess began, keeping every detail just as special as it’s always been.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We hope your Easter was as sweet as the chocolate we made for you 🤍

The early 2000s are calling!

We haven’t made this one in years but we decided to bring it out of retirement. We bought this candy mold when it was relevant… and now it’s vintage 🙃

Last night, we were honored to attend the Best of Allegany awards and to be named Favorite Local All-American Restaurant. This recognition means the world to us and it wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support of our community.

To our amazing customers, thank you! Your loyalty and support mean more to us than we can ever express!

Representing us last night were two of our long-time employees, Jennifer Smouse and Melody Warnick, but this award belongs to all of our hardworking and dedicated staff. Their commitment, care, and heart are what make our restaurant what it is.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us and being part of our story!
