From the Provisions kitchen: Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies 🍪
Crisp edges, soft centers, and just enough richness from browned butter to make them feel a little over the top. And be sure not to skip the flakey sea salt at the end!
Save this for later.
Makes about 24 large cookies
Ingredients
3 ½ cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder
2 ½ teaspoons cornstarch
¾ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup + 7 tablespoons unsalted butter, browned
1 ¾ cups packed light brown sugar
1 ⅓ cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
3 ¾ cups semisweet chocolate chips
Flaky sea salt, for finishing
Instructions
Whisk together flour, baking powder, cornstarch, and salt. Set aside.
Brown the butter over medium heat until golden and nutty, then transfer to a bowl and let cool until warm but not hot.
Add brown sugar and granulated sugar to the butter and beat until smooth and slightly lightened, about 2 minutes. Mix in eggs, yolks, and vanilla until glossy.
Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Let dough cool slightly, then fold in chocolate chips.
Scoop about ⅓ cup of dough per cookie onto a parchment-lined sheet. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Bake at 300°F for 18–22 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are just set.
Finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt right when they come out of the oven. Let cool slightly and enjoy.
