A Statement from the Owners of Solace
For the past several months, we have intentionally remained silent regarding the public comments, accusations, and repeated references made about Solace, Laura Abbas, myself, and our business by both Val Borey and Restaurateur SL.
Laura and I chose to stay silent because we genuinely hoped this situation would remain private. We believed the best thing we could do was continue building our business instead of participating in public conflict.
Unfortunately, our silence has now been mistaken by some as acceptance of allegations that simply are not true.
Over the last several months, friends, customers, creators, and members of the Second Life community have repeatedly sent us screenshots of Facebook posts, comments, and public statements discussing Solace, Laura Abbas, The Glam Life SL, and our character. We were not following Val’s pages ourselves. In fact, we had been blocked from viewing much of this content. We became aware of it only because members of the community continued bringing it to our attention and asking why we were allowing our names and business to be publicly discussed without correcting the record.
After careful thought and prayer, I believe it’s time to simply present the documented timeline and allow people to draw their own conclusions.
The screenshots attached to this post tell that timeline.
On March 23, 2026, we contacted Val Borey regarding a commission for three custom banquet dishes for an upcoming event. We provided our creative concept and explained exactly how Solace intended to use the meshes. As we have always done, Solace would handle all scripting, animations, and functionality ourselves. We were commissioning only the 3D models.
Val accepted the commission, quoted the project at L$150,000, and we moved forward with the agreement.
On April 3, we submitted the first payment of L$75,000.
On April 4, after our payment had already been accepted, Val informed us that she had recently changed her licensing model. However, she specifically stated that because of our previous working relationship, she would honor our existing agreement for this project and that any new licensing terms would apply only to future work.
Based on that representation, we continued under the understanding that our original agreement remained in place.
Shortly afterward, everything changed.
Without any evidence ever being provided to us, Laura was accused of knowingly supporting individuals involved with unauthorized content on another platform. Those accusations eventually became public and included repeated references to Laura Abbas, The Glam Life SL, and Solace.
We immediately denied those accusations, requested proof, and made it clear that Solace has never knowingly supported or participated in copyright infringement.
No evidence establishing that Solace knowingly supported or participated in copyright infringement was ever provided to us.
Instead, our project was suspended.
After our payment had already been accepted and after we had been told our original agreement would be honored, entirely new conditions were introduced. Those new conditions included ongoing royalties on future sales, retroactive payments based on historical sales, new licensing requirements, changes regarding source files, and the refusal to refund our deposit even though the project was no longer proceeding under the agreement we had originally accepted.
At the same time, our event deadline was quickly approaching.
For anyone who has ever developed products in Second Life, you know that receiving a mesh is only one part of the process. We still had to complete scripting, animations, testing, packaging, HUD development, product photography, advertising, vendor setup, marketplace preparation, and quality testing before release. Receiving screenshots of a completed mesh one day before our scheduled launch would not have allowed us enough time to complete the remaining work necessary to deliver a finished product to our customers.
We understood that Val was dealing with serious health issues, and we genuinely sympathized with that. We prayed for her, extended grace throughout the delays, and repeatedly tried to handle everything privately.
When it became clear that the original agreement had fundamentally changed, we respectfully requested one of two things: either complete the project under the agreement we originally accepted, or return our deposit so we could move in another direction.
Neither request was granted.
Instead, we were instructed to stop communicating.
We respected that request.
We did not go to Facebook.
We did not begin making public posts.
We did not begin discussing private conversations publicly.
We simply moved forward with our business because we had a deadline to meet and customers depending on us.
Months later, members of the community began sending us screenshots showing that public posts discussing Solace, Laura Abbas, The Glam Life SL, and our business were continuing to be published by both Val Borey and Restautateur SL.
At that point, remaining silent was no longer protecting our business.
It was allowing one version of events to become accepted without response.
We have also seen repeated public statements suggesting that Solace knowingly supports theft, knowingly promotes stolen content, knowingly distributes unauthorized work, or knowingly participates in copyright infringement.
Those statements are false.
Solace has never knowingly participated in the sale, promotion, sharing, or distribution of stolen content.
Likewise, ordinary interaction with creators on social media is not evidence that someone knowingly supports copyright infringement. Suggesting otherwise unfairly damages reputations and creates conclusions that are not supported by facts.
We have also seen repeated public criticism regarding the publication of private correspondence.
It is important to point out that public discussion of private communications did not begin with Solace. Long before we made the decision to respond, our private business dealings, our project, our names, and our communications were already being publicly referenced across multiple posts. Even today, this statement shares only those portions of our conversations that are necessary to establish the documented timeline and correct public statements made about our company. We have intentionally withheld many private conversations out of respect for everyone’s privacy.
This post is not intended to attack Val Borey.
It is not intended to encourage harassment.
It is not intended to invite anyone to choose sides.
It is intended to protect the reputation of Solace.
One issue deserves to be addressed directly because it has now been repeated publicly multiple times and contains allegations that have the potential to mislead others about my wife’s character, professional integrity, and conduct.
Much of what has been posted attempts to portray Laura as someone who knowingly supports content theft. That accusation is completely unsupported by the facts.
The screenshots being shared publicly show Laura commenting on another creator’s public social media posts. We have included those screenshots with this statement because we believe people deserve to see exactly what is being referenced rather than relying on someone else’s interpretation of ordinary public interactions.
Laura is a content creator. Through TheGlamLifeSL, she has spent years supporting creators throughout the Second Life community. She regularly comments on creators’ work, congratulates creators on new releases, encourages new projects, and celebrates the success of others. That has always been part of who she is and how she conducts herself within this community.
The comments being presented as “evidence” are nothing more than ordinary public interactions that are entirely consistent with how she has supported hundreds of creators over the years.
At the time those comments were made, neither Laura nor I had any knowledge that the individual being referenced was allegedly involved in any intellectual property dispute. We had never been presented with evidence that any content had been stolen, nor had anyone informed us that there was an ongoing dispute involving that creator.
Simply put, we cannot be expected to know allegations that were never communicated to us.
Even after these accusations began appearing publicly, we repeatedly asked for evidence that Laura knowingly supported the theft of anyone’s intellectual property.
No such evidence has ever been provided.
Instead, the conclusion that Laura knowingly supported theft appears to have been based solely on the fact that she publicly encouraged another creator’s work and interacted with publicly available social media posts.
Respectfully, that is not evidence.
Commenting “Beautiful,” congratulating another creator, leaving applause emojis, expressing excitement about someone’s content, or encouraging another creator’s work on a public platform does not establish knowledge of alleged copyright infringement. It certainly does not establish that Laura knowingly supported theft.
Public accusations that question someone’s personal or professional integrity require evidence, not assumptions or speculation.
To this day, no evidence has been presented demonstrating that Laura knowingly supported, encouraged, promoted, or participated in the theft of anyone’s intellectual property.
That distinction matters.
For that reason, we categorically reject any statement or implication that Laura knowingly supported theft or acted dishonestly. Those allegations remain unsupported by the evidence that has been presented publicly. We believe anyone who reviews the attached screenshots in their full context will see that they reflect nothing more than the ordinary interactions of a creator supporting other creators within the community.
Before making this statement, I consulted legal counsel regarding the repeated public accusations being made against my wife and our business. The advice I received was straightforward: when public statements or implications have the potential to mislead others about a person’s character or business practices, it is appropriate to respond publicly with documented facts. That is the purpose of this statement. It is not retaliation, nor is it an attempt to create further conflict. It is simply our opportunity to correct the record with evidence, context, and the complete timeline.
Truth is a complete defense to allegations of defamation, and every factual statement made in this post is supported by documentation that we are sharing publicly. We are not asking anyone to simply believe us. We are asking people to review the timeline, review the screenshots, and come to their own conclusions based on the documented facts.
On a personal note, this has been incredibly disappointing.
Laura genuinely cared about this professional relationship. She encouraged Val during difficult seasons, prayed with her during her illness, extended grace when delays occurred, and hoped this matter would never become public. Watching someone you genuinely cared about repeatedly accuse your wife, your business, and your integrity has not been easy.
Kindness should never be mistaken for weakness.
Silence should never be mistaken for guilt.
Today, we are simply correcting the public record.
After this statement, we have no intention of continuing this matter publicly. Our focus remains exactly where it has always been: serving our customers, creating products we are proud of, growing The Glam Life SL, growing Be Encouraged Ministries, and continuing to build Solace with honesty, professionalism, and integrity.
To everyone who has supported us, encouraged us, prayed for us, and brought these public posts to our attention over the past several months, thank you.
We appreciate you more than you know.
