I did not know Thomas personally, but he obviously was loved and admired by many ❤️🙏
From His Family:
Many people in this group know me or one of my four sisters, but almost everyone knew my father, Thomas J. Blewitt Sr. It is with great sadness that, one day before his 76th birthday, he passed away peacefully at his home. He was a longtime resident of Ocean Grove.
My father worked most of his life as an insurance claims adjuster. His very first job was setting up umbrellas on the beaches in Ocean Grove, and during the last ten years after retirement, he enjoyed standing on the corners of Main Avenue helping people cross the road as a crossing guard.
He loved cracking jokes and waving to everyone. Some of my friends would joke that they couldn’t drive down Main Avenue more than once because he would wave at them every single time. One of his favorite things to tell people was, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
He was deeply dedicated to his work and to serving the community. He very seldom missed a day of work, and when he finally made the difficult decision not to work this summer because standing for four hours had become too much, he did not take that decision lightly.
Thank you to everyone who was kind to him and stopped to chat with him over the years. I know he truly loved those conversations and the people in this community.
My dad would have been 76 today, but instead, God called him home yesterday.
