This photo takes us back to 2017 — a little corner of our very first shop in Westmoreland. Tiny, colorful, cozy… and the beginning of so much ☕️

It’s wild to think some of you who walk through our doors today remember the black-and-white tile days and supported us from the start. The fact that so many of you have been with us since those early days means more than we could ever put into words — your support helped build this dream, and we carry so much gratitude for you ❤️

That original space still makes magic today as our sister store, Rose City Sandwich Co. 🥪— where Savannah and A***n artfully bake our biscuits and cookies, while much of the behind-the-scenes prep helps Rose City Coffee continue to grow. It’s also still open to the public as a cozy little to-go spot, carrying the same heart in a different form🌹

✨ We are so excited to welcome Kiana back to the Rose City Coffee team🌹

After spending the last five months traveling, she officially made her return this past month — and it has felt so good having her energy back in the shop! Kiana was one of our original evening crew members, and if you’ve spent late nights at Rose City over the years, there’s a good chance you’ve already experienced the creativity and warmth she brings to the space ✨

When she’s not behind the bar, she’s creating art through pastels, spray paint, and pencil drawings, while also making the transition from studying environmental engineering to environmental law 🌿

We’re so happy to have her back!

Meet Clark 🌹

Part musician, part coffee wizard, part vintage-jacket-collector-energy. When he’s not making music with his band .engineco he’s at Rose City Coffee diving deep into the craft of coffee and bringing a whole lot of personality into the shop ☕✨ Clark has one of those unmistakable voices that makes you stop what you’re doing for a second—and somehow the same can be said about his style, too. Every time he walks in, it feels like he stepped out of a different era in the best possible way.

Equal parts quirky, funny, thoughtful, and creatively put together, Clark has quickly become one of those people who adds even more character to the strange little universe that is Rose City Coffee 💛 We’re really grateful he found his way into our corner of Portland.

Before the colorful coffee bags lining our shelves today… every single Rose City Coffee bag was hand-stamped with a whole lot of care (and honestly, a surprising amount of skill 😅). Getting the stamp lined up just right became a craft of its own, and deep in the palms of our hands are permanent stamping calluses to prove it.

We’ve come a long way since these days, and we absolutely love the vibrant bags we use now — but there’s something really special about looking back on the early little moments that helped build Rose City Coffee into what it is today ✨

Cait is truly one of those people who makes a room feel lighter the second she walks in. An absolute ray of sunshine, she brings so much joy, kindness, and positivity into Rose City Coffee every single day—and we genuinely feel so lucky to have her as part of our team! She has the kind of warmth that can’t be taught, and there truly isn’t a mean bone in her beautiful body 💛

When she’s not at the shop spreading good energy, you’ll probably find her out adventuring around the city with her dog, soaking up everything Portland has to offer. Whether she’s behind bar or just brightening someone’s day with a conversation, Cait is such a bright light and we’re endlessly thankful for her ✨

📚🌙 From 5–7pm every Thursday, a collective of writers takes over our corner of the city—published authors, aspiring novelists, world-builders, horror lovers, sci-fi dreamers, fantasy fanatics, and people quietly working on stories they haven’t shown anyone yet.

This is a writers group built for creativity, conversation, and actually getting words on the page. Bring your laptop, notebook, unfinished manuscript, strange ideas, or just your curiosity.

Dark horror. Fantasy realms. Sci-fi futures. Weird fiction. All welcome.
