We’re honored to be included in Portland Monthly list of the city’s 50 best restaurants. Many thanks to Karen Brooks Jordan Michelman Brooke Jackson-Glidden Thomas Teal Michael Novak for their efforts.
For those of you that didn’t know, Berlu started in 2019 as a tasting menu restaurant. It wasn’t until the pandemic we began exploring Vietnamese flavors which led to an obsession with Vietnamese pastries.
The bakery has provided a platform to express creativity while also learning so much about myself and my Vietnamese heritage. Through the bakery we’ve also been able to build an amazing community not possible had we operated solely as a tasting menu restaurant.
Our Thursday Night Market @ Berlu has been a great opportunity to continue that exploration of my heritage through food, while also applying savory techniques learned over the years to traditional, humble Vietnamese dishes.
Just filled with gratitude and eagerness to keep moving forward.
