It's been a while since I've done a TS cake! But I 🩷 LOVED 🩷 how this one turned out and I feel like I finally nailed the Lover palette. And who doesn't love a good transition! Hopefully this is the lead in to more cake decorating reels because if you guys are anything like me, you can watch those for hours too πŸ˜‚

**Also if you've filled out an order form or contact form or sent me any sort of message in the past two weeks or so, please know I have received it, I'm just still on vacation and catching up and all that good stuff so please have some patience with me thx πŸ’–

I've been so focused on trying to make more videos and create more ✨content✨ that I forgot how fun a good ol' fashioned cake carousel can be! So here ya go 😁

Also a friendly reminder (I can't actually remember if I've explicitly said it or not so maybe it's more of a notice than a reminder but I digress) that I will be out of town for an anniversary/vacation/get out of Pullman for a while trip this weekend through next. I will also be closed for most of the last week of July while I spend time with family. All of this info is on the calendar on the last slide as well as on the door of the storefront and a page on the website. I know there are a lot of CLOSED days, but that's summer as an owner-operated small business for you. I gotta take some time for friends, family, and fun πŸ’–

I wish I was exaggerating, but if I'm listening to my murder podcasts or jamming out to some t-swizzle then you KNOW I'm locked in to the process πŸ˜‚

A lot can change in a year. And a lot has changed in a year. But one thing that remains constant is that I still love this cute little business that I've created and the community that has stuck with me through all of the inconsistencies and rough patches. Y'all are the real MVPs and I can't wait to see what the next year has in store πŸ’–πŸ§πŸ₯³

It was a weird weekend where for the first time in a very long time I felt like I wasn't prepared for what I was doing. Valentine's Day is busy and WSU graduation means a lot of cakes, but I know those are coming and can prepare for the inevitable stress of it all. But for some reason this weekend really snuck up on me with a bunch of birthday, wedding, baby shower, graduation, and gender reveal orders that I severely underestimated the workload for.

So, sorry I closed this weekend and basically ignored everyone for a couple of days, but also like I love how all of the orders turned out and somehow the happiness in my heart of making all of these orders is outweighing the guilt I feel for not being able to provide people with their daily fruit tart. I'm just forever grateful for the continued support and understanding and love that you guys throw my way even when I feel like I'm letting everyone down πŸ˜… It's big 'you don't have to believe in yourself because I believe in you' vibes and it means everything to me πŸ’–

People like to ask me what my favorite thing to bake is and at its core, it's definitely macarons and croissants. They're so technically specific and detailed that the end result is so satisfying when you can get it right. But at the end of the day, my favorite thing about this business is the cake decorating. I don't think I could ever say that cakes are my favorite thing to bake, but I would be lying through my teeth if I said that anything was as satisfying or as fun or as rewarding as slapping some frosting on a cake and putting my piping tips to work. If we're getting into the nitty gritty of it, I could never say no to a Lambeth request or a smash cake. Those are my absolute JAM. You want some glitter and bows on it too? Get outta town. Say less.

Anyway, here's some cakes from the past couple weeks πŸ’–

I think I blacked out for 48ish hours last week and I definitely didn't take pictures of most of the graduation cakes, but here's a little sample of what was going on this weekend. Between cakes, cupcakes, macarons, cake pops, sugar cookies, and everything in between, I ended up with 29 orders in two days and let's just say I'm still recovering πŸ˜…

You know as soon as I flipped that open sign to closed on Saturday I sank into the couch with a book, a lavender cider, and a cat in my lap. The perfect birthday, really. And to top it all off, a cake that I didn't have to make from my favorite person πŸ₯Ή

Alrighty buckaroos, strap in because I'm going to attempt to give you the tl;dr of what's been going through my head for the past indeterminate amount of time.

The Moscow Farmers Market starts back up this weekend (YAY) and I'll definitely be there this season, but I'll also be doing a lot of trying to figure out if I can still fit it into my schedule moving forward. It's not an exaggeration when I say I wouldn't be where I am today without MFM, but it might also be time to shift focus onto what I came here to do (the downtown bakery).

My dream is to be able to provide the same baked goods everyday I'm open. I don't make a lot on Thursdays because it's not a busy day and I'm guessing it's not a busy day because I don't make a lot, so I'm still trying to figure that out too. It genuinely messes with my head a lot more than people probably think it does when people come in and say "oh my gosh I'm so glad I finally caught you when you're open!" or "I've been wanting to stop by but every time I drive by you're closed." What a lot of people probably still don't know is that I built this storefront for the bigger kitchen, not the store itself. Walk-in sales are an added bonus, but special orders will always have priority and if I have to close the front so I can make cakes, I will not hesitate.

Basically, here's the proposed schedule for the month of May. If we're being completely honest, graduation is going to take everything out of me. It already is lawl. Also I don't usually broadcast this information but just so you guys know where my head is at, WSU graduation is on my birthday this year and the fact that one of the busiest days of the year for me is also a day that I would love to take off of work is messing with me a lil bit πŸ™ƒ

So anyways, I guess the tl;dr of the tl;dr is that as much as I want to please all of the people all of the time, I'm trying ✨real✨ hard to make the schedule that works best for me and my mental well-being. I know a lot of my posts have talked about this, but it's something that I think about basically every second of every day, so thanks for reading my live journal and thank you for following along on this journey with me πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

I blinked and realized I hadn't posted in a month and had an overflowing gallery of cakes! Y'all are keeping me on my toes and whenever anybody asks me how it's going I can genuinely say that it's going way better than I ever expected or planned for. The term 'suffering from success' has become quite ubiquitous as of late, but I wouldn't change a thing πŸ’–
