Meet Ashten, our Front of House manager and creative force behind our handcrafted cocktails.
Q: Where were you born?
A: I was born in Alabama, but raised in South Jersey. I moved to Georgia in June 2019.
Q: Who or what inspires you?
A: My husband and my son are my biggest inspirations. My husband and I pride ourselves on serving others and our communities, and setting that same example for our son. There is no greater joy than serving others and placing their needs above your own.
Q: First fun memory you have?
A: One of my fondest memories is sitting in the kitchen with my Mommom while she let me help prepare dinner. I remember her teaching me skills like how to peel potatoes, wash vegetables, and set the table. She always taught me to cook more food than needed, because if an unexpected guest came over, you always had enough to invite them to dinner.
Q: What sparked your love of food?
A: I come from a family with generations in the hospitality industry. My great-grandparents were cooks, my grandfather was a breakfast cook, my grandmother was a server, and my mom was a server and bartender. Every family meal was its own experience. I remember being a young child and stealing my mom's server tray and notepad and pretending to serve my family drinks at the dinner table. My love for food stems from my love for my family. Food was always how my family bonded, celebrated, mourned, and healed together. My greatest family memories always involved a great family meal.
Q: What’s your current favorite Menu Item?
A: Definitely the Fusilli Alla Barese. I love watching our chefs make pasta from scratch each morning before it's transformed into the dishes we serve that evening. The spicy, acidic sauce balanced with creamy stracciatella reminds me of my favorite Italian restaurants back home.
Q: Best advice for someone starting in hospitality?
A: The best advice I can give anyone starting in the hospitality industry is to stay humble, open-minded, learn as much as you can, ask questions and share your own knowledge with others.
