It’s been a swell spring! We’re pushing back farmers markets til June, with all hands on wholesale, production and infrastructure. Tea drop at the divine .luz.bakery yesterday just in time for tea season! (Have you tried the magic of their shortbread cookies lately? It’s always a good idea to get a nice assortment for yourself and bag a few to give to your pals!)
🪷 recent highs: awesome wwoof support getting the nettle harvests in, staff stepping up to take on more “fabricating” finished tea and treats, jumping in with extra hands to wrap up the addition’s build out, ❤️ to Dave for getting our canner seamer running with a new motor. So so grateful for all these folks steady kindness while I process the lows: changes/challenges of spring plus my pops slipping into the next dimension last month. Grief is a tricky beast, demanding that we both take the time to face them, and all push on through to keep on living.
So forgive me, Farmer Shae, for stepping back from farmers markets a few more weeks like I sort how to answer “how are you”. I’ll be back at it in June ready to tip my hat with a “Howdy, it’s been Swell”. 👩🏼‍🌾
🗓️ for the when/where, we got a pattern! It’s a little complex but here it is if you want to track me down🕵️and you can always check the farmers market pages for who’s there each week 🙌🏽 we’ll be 1st and last Wednesdays downtown, 2nd/4th Sundays at Chimacum and 2nd Sat in PT with 4th Saturdays June through October (Sequim/Chim) and December PT. 🥂🌾💦

Thrilled to have almost all the perennially beds cleaned up, surprises of annuals overwintering and the biggest joy: schisandra blooms. Took three years to get here! (And cameo shot of Tibetan tree peony budding up)

I hope these pictures can say the thousand words i dont have capacity to type :) The jst is a new season is here for good. Love this area, the people, the land, my beloved Dungeness and the Salish Sea that hold, refresh and inspire me.
🪷🌲🌹 ever more dedicated to making this farm+biz invest in cultivating wellness. Loosing my dad this spring, and having my autoimmune disease go wild this winter affirmed the choice of fewer markers, more farm time, product collabs and community building events (and hiking!). Heads up our next rally4RALL/Ys are on April 25 3-5 and May 17 1-3. More deets soon!

Here we are, it’s really spring and farmers markets are starting in a few weeks! Here’s a few candid winter snaps and sentence fragments to sum some up 🪅 seattle regional food system conference, violet takeover efforts blooming, huckleberries heartthrobs, new farm cat riding in style, rally4RALLY was/is/will be awesome, seasons progress, pacing for peace.

Of special mention: 🪶Beloved Kriska has a patch of earth to call her own on the Bogechiel, with such great dreams to build a sweat lodge, camp spaces and shelters to nourish elders and support those in need. If you want to help, please reach out and I’ll put you in contact.

🪷In the background there’s slow progress with infrastructure updates on the farm, and efficiency efforts in process and packaging; but in the context of years dreaming these things, todo bien, its happening. ❤️‍🩹in the foreground I’ve been dealing with a usually-hidden autoimmune disorder (lichen schlerosis) that has been more extreme. It centers on inflammation and skin issues, sometimes debilitating, but not obvious to those around me unless I speak up. I generally suppress my pain and carry on in a mix of shame and maybe stubbornness that doesn’t want to acknowledge/talk about it. Having a full-body flare up that put me out recently was hard, yet a potent reminder to make disability accessible places, to slow down, and be braver sharing! It’s the spaces in-between that give our bodies time to heal, and our hearts/minds to process. If anyone wants to organize a disability pride rally with us in July (disability pride month!) let me know and let’s do ✨✌🏽😮‍💨🌱

🌹 of major mention: Im so grateful for the compassionate, steady, professional and kind staff support this part time crew shows up with, couldn’t do it without you! @ Spencer and to friends and family that give advice, hugs, adaptable adventures and soooo much understanding ❤️🪷🤍
