🎨 who’s hangin’ at FIRST AVENUE COFFEE: Bevie LaBrie LaBRIE

From the Himalayas of Nepal to the walls of First Avenue Coffee.

Art has a way of taking us places, and this month’s featured artist, Bevie LaBrie, has quite a story to share.

Inspired by a dream of immersing herself in Nepal’s Himalayas, Bevie embarked on a journey through remote villages, breathtaking landscapes, and an artist residency in Manang, Nepal.

Along the way, she gathered natural earth pigments, drew inspiration from the land and people, and created mixed-media works that capture the textures, colors, and connections of her experience.

Coach Rick has long been part of what makes First Avenue Coffee special. 🤎

After a recent violent attack near the Peaceful Valley stairs in Spokane, Rick is recovering from a traumatic brain injury and other serious injuries. As friends, neighbors, and regulars, we want to rally around him in a simple, meaningful way. That’s why we created Coach Rick’s Community Tab — a way for people to help cover Rick’s coffee, biscuits and gravy, and favorite treats while he recovers.

Our seasonal apple scone is tender and buttery with bites of sweet apple throughout, finished with a spiced pumpkin drizzle for the perfect fall finish.

Some places just become part of your routine. 🤎

The place you stop on your way to work. The table you always seem to end up at. The barista who already knows your order. The coffee you start craving before you’ve even decided where you’re going.

That’s the kind of place we want First Ave to be. More than somewhere to grab coffee, but a place to meet up, settle in, get a little work done, catch up with someone you haven’t seen in a while, or simply enjoy a really good cup of coffee.

The Honey Cardamom Latte is a little lesson in letting good ingredients do the work. 🍯☕️

We make our honey cardamom syrup in-house, balancing the natural sweetness of honey with the warm, aromatic spice of cardamom. Add espresso and steamed milk, and you get a fall latte that’s layered without being overly sweet.

Thoughtful ingredients, made with intention, from the syrup to the final pour.

Meet Chris, one of the baristas behind the bar at First Ave. ☕️

Chris brings a real appreciation for the craft of coffee to everything he does, along with a genuine love for the people who walk through our doors. One of his favorite parts of working at First Ave is getting to know guests, including those who return to Spokane months later and make First Ave part of their visit every time they’re in town.

When he’s not connecting with customers, you’ll probably find Chris appreciating a great black coffee or exploring what’s new on the menu. His current picks? The Apple Bourbon Latte for something sweet and the Columbia Orange Bourbon pour-over for his coffee fix.

We’re lucky to have Chris on our team and grateful for the care, curiosity, and hospitality he brings to First Ave. 🤎
