Can we chat for a minute about something that’s been weighing on us? We’d rather be upfront and clear before we start towing cars with no explanation.
Corner Trading Post sits on two lots the community has used for a long time, as a pull-off, a meeting spot, a place to leave a car for a bit. We get why, it’s a wide, level space and it’s easy to get off the highways here. We bought the property and have worked hard to improve the exterior, including removing a lot of trash, grading the gravel, reestablishing the front parking and reopening the second entrance on HWY 292. We’re incredibly grateful for your support so please don’t misconstrue this post, 99% of you are doing just fine. But we need to be clear and publicly touch on this before we ever have to actually tow someone.
The entire flat cleared space and the trees along Center Ave, all the way to the back, is private property… not just the building and front spaces. If you’re not on the highway easement, you’re on our property.
Now we know the covered windows make the building look closed from a few sides (this is only staying while we work inside). We’re working on helping that with the signs etc. But the drive thru window is open every single day of the week.
A few things are non-negotiable going forward:
→ Front parking is for paying customers only.
→ No overnight parking without written permission.
→ Do not litter in the parking lot.
→ The drive thru lane all the way through the parking lot to the highway has to stay open and unblocked. It’s the only way we’re able to serve people right now, and if it gets blocked we will tow immediately, no exceptions.
→ This isn’t a space for mechanical work, and it definitely isn’t a bathroom for your dog, or for you, period.
When the lot looks j***y, it reflects on us. A messy lot makes people think twice before pulling in, and we want folks to feel comfortable stopping in, not wondering what’s going on.
So please, we kindly expect you to pick up after yourselves, give our drive thru room to run, and check in with us before using the space beyond a quick visit.
