Because I was born and raised in Houston, Juneteenth was always a celebration with 2 parades. It was only 161 years ago that black people in Galveston RECEIVED news that they were free from slavery (the last to receive the news). Not sure how else to express this, but that’s not that long ago.

There’s always something good the day after market. I grabbed a four pack of sourdough bagels from before packing it up for a storm that came later than expected. This morning I was the last one up, therefore getting the last bagel and it was delicious - very New York bagel with cream cheese, pickled onion, tomato, caper & smoked salmon. 😋 Happy Monday!
