This is real. We keep talking about shortages of food. Well, it is happening. I have ordered from two companies and many of the items I ordered are either "out of stock" or "discontinued". I have kept my prices the same up until now. Any new products that come in will have to be raised to the current pricing. You still have time to pick up #10 cans of
freeze dried or dehydrated foods at the old price until my orders come in
next week. Be sure your pantries are stocked!

This is in my local news today! They are weeks behind! If you did not see my recent Live Stream, you should watch. You better stock up on wheat berries or flour now. Also, pasta and other foods that require flour.

Take a look at what you can do with these totes. These are 10 gallon totes and you can fit 25 to 30 mylar bags of freeze dried or dehydrated veggies or meals. They are also stackable, saving on space.

Learning something new everyday to preserve food!

Some call it old fashioned.

I call it knowing where your food comes from, how to make a meal from simple ingredients, and having skills that still matter when trends come and go.

Potato Soup Mix — The Tan Recipes
(Dry Mix for Quick Homemade Soup)

This Potato Soup Mix is one of my favorite pantry staples! It’s fast, comforting, and perfect for busy days. Just mix up a batch, store it in a jar, and you’ve got instant soup ready in minutes.

Ingredients (makes about 3½–4 cups of mix)
- 1¾ cups instant potato flakes
- 1½ cups dry milk powder
- 2 tablespoons chicken broth powder
- 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
- ¼ teaspoon white pepper
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
- ⅛ teaspoon turmeric
- 1½ teaspoons seasoning salt (such as Lawry’s)

Instructions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly distributed.
3. Store in a quart-sized canning jar with a screw-top lid or another airtight container.

To Prepare One Serving:
- Place ½ cup of the soup mix in a bowl.
- Add 1 cup boiling water and stir well until smooth.
- Let sit for a minute or two to thicken.

Pro Tip: I usually just heat my water in the microwave — it makes this an incredibly fast lunch!

Optional Add-Ins:
Once the base is mixed, stir in any of these for extra flavor:
- Leftover corn (for corn chowder)
- Chopped leftover ham
- Cooked bacon bits
- Shredded cheese
- Green onions or chives

Labeling Tip: Always label your jar with preparation instructions. I like to stick a Post-it note on the lid that says:
“½ cup mix + 1 cup boiling water.”

This mix stores beautifully on the shelf and is a lifesaver when you need something warm and comforting in a hurry. My family loves it!

Happy cooking! 🥣
