Good Afternoon, everyone!☀️
Just a quick note to let you all know that we’ll be closed this upcoming Saturday and Sunday (June 6 & 7).

On Saturday, we’ll be out participating in a community event, so the café won’t be open. We’ll also be taking Sunday for some much-needed maintenance and a little refresh behind the scenes.

Huge thanks for all the support—it’s been wonderful meeting everyone. As we head into Mother’s Day weekend, here’s a quick update on a few FAQs:

☆ Granola is back! We’ve restocked, but supplies are limited, so grab yours soon.

☆ This weekend, we won’t be offering a special while we get settled in — thanks for your understanding!

☆ The current menu will be staying the same for the foreseeable future. We’re excited to bring our ideas into the cafe, but are keen on keeping the same beloved menu items.

Hello! After a busy past 3 days transitioning, we’d like to formally introduce ourselves! We’re Courtney and Rob, the new owners of Recess Cafe!

A little about ourselves; we both come from a barista background with a love for coffee & cafes. Rob has experience in commercial kitchens, while Courtney comes from a family of home bakers spending most summers working for her grandmother in PEI.

Outside of cafe work, Rob has worked in the Ottawa Music Industry as a live and recording audio engineer, and drove a school bus up until this past month! Courtney enjoys taking the sidelines at concerts, taking photos and designing merch.

We just moved here from Ottawa, but we’re no strangers to Portland. We’ve been spending our summers on Big Rideau Lake for over a decade, and have become fond of the area even more after Courtney’s parents moved to the area.

Overall, we’re so excited to meet everyone that visits Recess Cafe, and continue the wonderful Portland landmark Jen and Tim have started. We look forward to meeting you all & hope to see you soon. ♡ 𓃬
