In 1964, Emidio Pepe used grapes from his family’s vineyards to commercially bottle w**e for the first time. At the time, most Italians believed that international commercial success was predicated upon the use of French grape varieties, but Emidio Pepe’s w**es have proved that the w**es of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo can be complex, long-lived, and compelling.

The 2008 vintage explodes with aromas of crushed raspberries, dried flower petals, licorice and worn leather. Now on the w**e list at Sorellina.
