One of the questions we hear most at the Farm Store is, “What happens to all the shells?”

They don’t end up in a landfill.

Many are shared with local gardens, artists, community projects, and restoration efforts. On the farm, shells are returned to the river, where they help create habitat for future oysters and other marine life.

Even an empty shell still has a job to do.

This week’s cocktail is the Negroni Sbagliato.

We’re open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Happy Hour on Fridays and Saturdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Every farm tour at Glidden Point includes a chance to learn the basics, along with a closer look at how oysters are grown here on the Damariscotta River. It’s one of our favorite parts of the tour.

Little Busters are on the menu this month.

Grown in the cold waters of Casco Bay near Freeport, they have a full-bodied brine with a delicate sweet finish. The meeting of the Gulf of Maine, the Harraseeket River, and the Little River gives these oysters a flavor that’s unmistakably their own.

Happy Hour returns this week (Friday, July 3), summer is in full swing, and we’ll be open on the Fourth if you’re looking for a place to spend part of your day by the river.
