As you all know so much has happened. Equipment breakdowns, fire at the Teaneck location. How do I hold myself together. I cry let it out, sit still amd then go at it harder. This is the key. Giving up is not an option but believing that it gets better is the option I run with. I've always felt a deep connection with you all. The extended family that I always wanted. ❤️ I so appreciate each and everyone of you. Its isn't easy at all. But its what I chose and truly the best part of it all is you. Those that truly see what it is that I do. And have tried to do for a long time. Its to connect my community to their roots and uplift Puerto Rico. As well as show others they could do it too. I hope ive inspired you today to be compassionate and to go for it regardless of how hard it gets. This too shall pass. I love you all! My Freakin Rican Family. Thank you God. Thank you to all the angels I have around me that give me the strength to persevere through everything that is often thrown at me. Im so so grateful to Teaneck health department. To bergen protective systems (firealarm company) to for quickly coming to service our suppression system also to that cleaned our hood. Thanks to you all im able to open TOMORROW, Saturday May 23rd. 🙌 And of course to you all for your words, prayers and always making me feel supported. Often I'm always the one to support and lend a hand to all those I know. If you know me you know its true. So its nice to see that you too have my back. We must always help one another. To Our Freakin Rican Family,

Due to a recent fire in our Teaneck kitchen, our Teaneck location is temporarily closed while we work through repairs and recovery. Thankfully, everyone is safe, and we are doing everything possible to reopen as soon as we can.

During this time, we kindly ask for your support. You can still support us by placing shipping orders through our website and by visiting our Astoria location, which remains open for dine-in, takeout, and pickup orders.

Catering services are also still available from both locations.

This restaurant has always been built on community, culture, and the love you’ve shown us over the years. Your support during this difficult time means more to us than words can express, and we are incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

Yesterday was going so good and smooth. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Started off in Astoria then came to my Teaneck location around 3pm. Went to my office to cut checks when, One of my employees told me there was a fire in the Kitchen. I ran so fast. The flames were about to touch the ceiling. I put on my fireman suit and exterminated it. Thank god. But the damage was already done. It could have been different. So im very grateful my staff was safe and the building was as well. So now... the work begins. Love you all! PALANTE

You’re deeply involved in neuroscience while also pursuing a pageant platform—how do you balance both worlds?
I feel like balance comes down to three things - discipline, time management, and passion. Neuroscience and pageantry may seem like very different worlds, but for me, they complement each other. Both require dedication, curiosity, and a desire to make an impact. Staying organized, prioritizing my goals, and reminding myself why I started. For me when your purpose is clear, balancing multiple passions becomes meaningful rather than overwhelming.

How has your background in medicine shaped the way you approach this experience?
My background in medicine has grounded me in empathy, critical thinking, and service. It has taught me to listen deeply, connect with the people around me from all walks of life, and approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset. In this experience, I carry those values with me—understanding that this platform is not just about visibility, but about meaningful impact.

Can you tell us more about your platform, Her Brain, Her Power, and what inspired you to create it?
Her Brain, Her Power is a platform that I am currently working on. It's not fully developed yet but it's dedicated to empowering young women through neuroscience education and mental health awareness. I'm creating this platform because I saw a gap, especially in underserved communities like where I grew up (South Bronx) Where young girls didn’t always have access to resources or representation in STEM fields. I want to change that narrative by showing them that their minds are powerful and that they belong in spaces where innovation, leadership and discovery happen.
