Ryan Walsh is a Spanish guitarist and award-winning composer who studied in Spain at the Conservatorio Superior de Sevilla, where he deepened his connection to the instrument’s tradition at its source. Now based in Portland, he is known for vibrant, virtuosic performances that draw from Spanish and Latin repertoire alongside contemporary favorites and original compositions.

Shami Café is CLOSED today, Sunday, March 29th.

Shami’s owner, Wael, had surgery just last week. Though we did our best to plan for coverage during his recovery, another one of our staff members had to call out, causing us to close the restaurant today.

We will be open for business again this coming Wednesday, April 1st. We hope to see you then!

Shami Café is proud to announce that all the beef, lamb, and chicken we use is now 100% Halal. Mashallah! ☪️ 💚 🙌🏼

We opened in May 2025, but it’s taken a while to secure the right source for Halal certified meats. We apologize for keeping the Ummah waiting so long! 😉🙏🏼

Halal doesn’t just matter to our Muslim community — it’s a standard of quality everyone can appreciate.✨

Halal preparation focuses on clean handling, humane treatment of animals, strict hygiene, and avoiding cross-contamination. It also requires full draining of blood, which makes the meat cleaner and often easier to digest. 🫧🐮🐥🐑
