Francois Cazin Cheverny Blanc 2025! Crispy crunchy vivid central Loire white!

Available at Zu Bakery, Blue Hill Wine Shop, First Fig, Island Wine and Spirits, Sawyers Specielties, Vessel and Vine, The Wine Seller, and Friends and Family

Francois Cazin is an old school natural producer who’s been in the Dressner portfolio for a long time.  These are the the kinds of wines I really love: they have a strong sense of place, they taste vibrant and exciting, and they’ve shockingly accessibly priced!

Cheverny was created as an AOC in 1993 and Cour Cheverny received AOC status in 1997, but wine growing here goes back over a thousand years just like it does in the rest of Touraine.  Cheverny and Cour Cheverny are kind of over looked, partially because they’re new, partially because they’re so small (about 40 growers total in Cheverny and less in Cour Cheverny), and also because the wines are unique.  Blending Sauvignon Blanc with Chardonnay is pretty unusual and the Romorantin grape variety that is the only grape allowed in Cour Cheverny is about as esoteric as grapes get.

Vignoble Dinocheau Pineau d'Aunis 2024! Happy Bastille Day (a day late). Ameliorate your French World Cup regrets with this brilliant light Loire red

Available at Waldoboro Inn, Folk, Signal, The Wine Seller, and First Fig

Laurence’s Pineau D’Aunis is what we first picked up about 7 years ago. It comes from older vines (40+ years) planted on sandy clay topsoil over a denser clay and limestone subsoil. The grapes are destemmed and then ferment in neutral tanks. This vintage is beautiful and vibrant and just 12% alcohol. It’s got gorgeous fruit and drinks like a super elegant deeper rose. I love this!

Jean Marc Biet 'Rouge Caractere' Malbec Cab Franc 2022! Happy Bastille Day Everyone! Here's a very French Cab Franc Malbec blend from the heart of France 🇫🇷

Available at Rosemont Market, Good Wine Bar, Blue Hill Wine Shop, Vessel and Vine, Bow St Market,TheAbbey, and Now You're Cooking

Blend of Cabernet Franc and Malbec (Cot).  Julie describes this as a love message from her father to her mother (that her mother has very good character) and this wine is a marriage of the two very different grape varieties working so smoothly together. Harvested separately and fermented separately, then Julie, her mother, father, and brother sit down and taste and blend and work out just how much of each varietal to use. It’s inky looking but smells bright and fresh, a touch ashy.

Pomalo Frankovka Rose 2025!

Available at Walpole Barn, Folk, Two Fat Cats, Hops and Vine, Sawyers Specielties, The Waldoboro Inn, Costa Media, Great Cranberry Island Store, The Wine Seller, Lady Oyster, RSVP, Smalls, Phoenix Fine Wines, Bow St, and Rosemont Market

Pomalo is a slang word in Croatia, from the Dalmatian coast that means something like slow down, take it easy, no stress: it’s a product of the lifestyle and island culture of the Dalmatian coast.  Pomalo the wine brand was created by Vinum to highlight indigenous grapes and classic styles at affordable prices.  Ilya and Daniel picked the name Pomalo to use to explore all the exciting and unknown varietals of Croatia. All the wines are made by wine makers in the Vinum book: people they know and trust. This vintage of of the Pomalo rose is made by Tomba at the VK winery.  This is hand harvested, direct pressed with minimal skin contact, and then cold settled for 48 hours.  The juice then ferments spontaneously, after which it is racked and rests for 4 months.  Light filtration and a light addition of sulfur.  The grapes were grown on a vineyard in interior Croatia in the Pannonian basin on soil of light mixed clay.

Teres Antique Mediterranean Rose 2025

Available at Blue Hill Wine Shop, Black Birch, Folk, Waldoboro Inn, New Morning Natural Foods, Lily Chippy, Blue Hill Co-op, Golden Harvest

Teres Antiques is made by Chateau Rouet down in Provence at the base of the Rouet mountains. They have 70 hectares of vines surrounded by forests of pines, cork oak, palms, cedars, and native sequoias. The vineyard and forests are part of a nature preserve and the vineyard is farmed sustainably. This is direct press 60% Cinsault, 30% Grenache, and 10% Tibourenc fermented in stainless steel.  Laurent originally started working with Chateau Rouet to create a Provencal rose for another importer he worked with back in the day. When he struck out on his own Rouet liked him so much that they offered to bottle and label a wine just for him so that they could keep working together.

Jean Marc Biet Pinot Noir 2024! Lovely crunchy crisp Pinot Noir from the Loire!

Available at Bow St Market, Wind and Wine, Island Wine and Spirits, Blue Hill Wine Shop, South Freeport Market, Now You're Cooking, Rosemont Market, and Bow St Beverage

She says this is quite easy: you just harvest at perfect ripeness, put the grapes in a vat and leave the juice on the skins for 2 weeks!  Not too much stirring or punch downs to avoid too much tannin. They have some quite old Pinot Noir vines and they help give the wine more structure and depth.

Lasalde Elkartea 'Balea' Txakolina 2025! So super crisp and refreshing and briny and bubbly: it’s like jumping into the ocean!

Available at Rosemont Market, Le Roux Kitchen, Glidden Point, South Freeport Market, Costa Media, RSVP, Bow St Market, Wine Seller, Lady Oyster, Now You're Cooking, Salsbury Organics, Cong tu Bot, and Damariscotta River Cruises

The Balea white Txakolina is 95% Hondarribi Zuri and 5% Hondarribi Beltza (which is actually a red variety). The grapes ferment spontaneously in stainless steel and the juice is not racked for 5 months. Some of the CO2 from the fermentation dissolves back into the wine making it slightly effervescent.

Stoeffler 'Prends Moi' Pet Nat! Super fun and aromatic petnat from Alsace

Available at Island Wine and Spirits, Blue Hill Wine Shop, and Winonas

The first wine Adrien made! Not this particular bottling but this wine.  Here’s what Adrien said about it: In 2020, my second harvest, I started testing around 20 different blends for a PetNat using different grapes and different maturities to know exactly what would work. Then in 2021 I was ready to make my first PetNat. I made it simple at first and continued testing blends on the side. From 2022 I knew excatly what to do and started applying the magic recipe using 3 different grapes each year with one in skin contact, one aromatic and one for acidity.
