Why do we call ourselves a Tapas & W**e Bar? 🍷
It's a question we get asked often, and we'd love to share a little more about who we are and what Balandra means to us.
We're not a traditional Spanish tapas restaurant, and we never intended to be.
Our cuisine is rooted in the Pacific Northwest, inspired by flavors, ingredients, and culinary traditions from around the world. But when we chose the word *tapas*, we weren't trying to define a specific cuisine. We were trying to capture a feeling.
To us, tapas are about connection.
It's about gathering around a table with the people you love. Ordering a little bit of everything. Sharing dishes, discovering new flavors, pouring another glass of w**e, and letting the conversation flow.
It's about putting your phones down. Laughing a little louder. Staying a little longer. And remembering how special it can be to simply enjoy a meal together.
That's the experience we dreamed of creating at Balandra.
Every dish we plate, every w**e we pour, and every cocktail we craft is designed with that experience in mind. We want our food and drinks to spark curiosity, start conversations, and give you something worth talking about. Maybe it's an unexpected flavor combination, a beautiful presentation, or a w**e you've never tried before.
But more than anything, we want to bring back that feeling of community around the dinner table.
Because at the end of the day, the best part of dining out isn't just what's on your plate. It's who you're sharing it with.
That's what tapas mean to us.
