There have been some comments about my luck lately. And while I appreciate the sentiment and wanting to commiserate with me, I have to recognize and I should communicate more often how I really feel:

1. Even if not a single “ lucky” thing happened to me the rest of my life, I am still incredibly lucky (if you want to use that word)1. I have my health, I was raised by two incredibly caring parents (who passed me down some pretty darn good genes), my wife is a saint, I’ve been saved by Grace, and the list goes on and on

2. I also consider myself incredibly lucky to have been born in the United States. and I recognize that many have paid a significant cost, including their lives, to make America what it is. Imperfect as it may be (and certainly is), there are no doubt worse places to be born and grow up. I find myself very grateful today.

3. Even if none of that were true, I am a believer that I do not need to be a victim. I make my own luck. There have no doubt been weeks in the last five years where it felt like every single thing that could go wrong did go wrong. But God has created me to be a confident, capable, intelligent person. I don’t need to be afraid of what the future holds and I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.

4. Don’t let your future be robbed by the excuse of bad luck. If you have breath in your lungs and a heartbeat in your chest you can still accomplish something great and create a life you’re proud of.

Okay I think these might legitimately be the best batch of donuts I’ve ever seen come from our donut kitchen. Which is no bash to our teams, it’s this new machine! I think they’ve finally dialed it in and now I can’t wait to get the new one installed at York too! 🍩🍩🍩
